An Innovation That Started In The Gym
While owning a 500-member Athletic Club in the 1970s, Jeff Pedersen, former USC Baseball Captain and 3x National Champion, wondered how he might help his members achieve a better, more consistent, and motivational workout. Using his years of experience in training and fitness, Jeff began developing the now well-known Sweet Sweat gel. After four years of successful physical and observational testing on his club members, Sweet Sweat hit the market. Today, Sweet Sweat has expanded to include a wide range of highly functional workout tools, including the best-selling Sweet Sweat Waist Trimmer.

How it works
Zinc is an essential trace mineral found in every cell of the body. It acts as a structural part of hundreds of proteins and a cofactor for more than 300 enzymes involved in protein and DNA synthesis, cell division and wound healing. Zinc is also vital for normal immune cell development, for the sense of taste and smell, and for the skin's structural integrity. It is absorbed in the small intestine, and the body has no large storage, so a regular supply is needed. Absorption is reduced by phytates in wholegrains, legumes and seeds, and by high doses of iron or calcium. Chelated forms such as zinc picolinate, citrate, bisglycinate and gluconate are generally better tolerated than zinc oxide or sulfate, which are more likely to upset the stomach. Red meat, oysters, seafood and pumpkin seeds are rich food sources (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements).
What people use it for
- Helps maintain healthy skin
- Helps support normal immune system function
- Helps maintain the senses of taste and smell
- Helps support wound healing
- May help support healthy hair and nails
- Helps relieve zinc deficiency when dietary intake is inadequate
Common questions
Should I take zinc on an empty stomach?
Zinc absorbs well away from food but can cause nausea if taken on an empty stomach. Taking it with a light snack is a good compromise. Avoid taking it at the same time as iron or calcium supplements.
Can I take zinc every day?
Yes, at the label dose most adults can take it daily. Long-term high doses can reduce copper levels, so do not exceed the recommended amount without professional advice.
Safety
Long-term high doses of zinc can interfere with copper absorption and may cause nausea. Zinc can reduce the absorption of some antibiotics and other medicines, so separate doses by a few hours. Speak to a healthcare professional if you are pregnant or take regular medication.
