Magnesium glycinate uses magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine, which facilitates intestinal absorption. Magnesium is a mineral that is critical to energy production and metabolism, muscle contraction, nerve transmission, and bone mineralization. It is the required cofactor for approximately 300 enzymes. The processes that require magnesium include the production of fat and protein as well as glucose metabolism.
