Support for strong bones, steady foundations.

Want to look after your bones? Did you know vitamin K is found in leafy greens and works alongside vitamin D and calcium? It may help support bone health when dietary intake is inadequate.

Bone Restore from Life Extension gives you 200mcg per serving. Each pack has 120 Caps.

Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin best known for its role in normal blood clotting. It also helps direct calcium to where the body needs it, such as bones and teeth. There are two main forms. Vitamin K1 comes from leafy greens, while vitamin K2, including MK-7, is found in fermented foods like natto and in animal products. Many people choose K2 to complement vitamin D and calcium for bone support.

Delivery: Ships from overseas. Usually arrives in 1 to 2 weeks.

The science behind it

Vitamin K works as a cofactor for an enzyme called gamma-glutamyl carboxylase. This enzyme adds carboxyl groups to certain proteins, activating them so they can bind calcium. In the liver, it activates clotting factors II, VII, IX and X. Elsewhere it activates osteocalcin in bone and matrix Gla protein in blood vessel walls.

K1 versus K2. K1 (phylloquinone) is found in spinach, kale and broccoli. It is mainly used by the liver for clotting. K2 (menaquinone) is made by bacteria and exists in several forms. MK-4 is found in animal foods, and MK-7 is abundant in natto.

Why MK-7 is popular. MK-7 has a long half-life of about 68 hours, compared with 1 to 2 hours for K1 and MK-4. It therefore keeps blood levels steady with once-daily dosing and reaches tissues beyond the liver. Trials in postmenopausal women have reported that MK-7 improved markers of bone and vascular health (Knapen et al., Osteoporosis International, 2013).

Absorption. As a fat-soluble vitamin, K is best absorbed with a meal containing some fat. Gut bacteria make some K2, but the amount absorbed is uncertain, and diet remains the main source (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements).

Low status is uncommon in healthy adults, but it may be lower with poor fat absorption.

Maintaining bone density and strength is aboutadding calcium. But it must be accompanied by adequate amounts of other vital nutrients. That’s why this proprietary, comprehensive mineral formula provides 700 mg of highly absorbable elemental calcium from three different forms, along with the critically important minerals magnesium, boron, zinc, manganese, and silicon, plus vitamins D3 and K2, needed for healthy bones. So try Bone Restore with Vitamin K2 and add all of these critical nutrients to your regimen with one bone-boosting formula!

  • Contains 1,000 IU vitamin D3 per serving
  • Provides 200 mcg vitamin K2 as menaquinone

The most abundant mineral in the body, calcium is primarily found in bones and teeth. Men and women may take calcium supplements and still suffer from a loss of bone mineral density. Why? Most people don’t get enough calcium to offset the amount being lost in the course of aging. Additionally, many forms of calcium are not well-absorbed.1-3 Bone Restore with Vitamin K2 provides three types of easily absorbed calcium — dicalcium malate, calcium fructoborate, and calcium bisglycinate chelate — in capsule form to ensure it breaks down fully in the digestive tract.

Post-menopausal women commonly experience loss of bone mineral density, but men can also face this issue as they age.18 And both men and women may experience significant deficits of magnesium if they do not supplement. One of the body’s most important minerals, magnesium is needed to maintain strong bones and is critical to promoting a healthy vascular system.19,20 In fact, magnesium is essential for more than 300 different biochemical reactions in the body.21,22 Bone Restore with Vitamin K2 contains 300 mg of magnesium from magnesium oxide.

Scientific research has established the beneficial effects of the trace mineral boron on the strength of bones and joints.5,23-26 This formula contains patented FruiteX B® OsteoBoron®, a powerful form of boron made from a calcium/carbohydrate/boron complex similar to what is found in fruits and vegetables. FruiteX B® OsteoBoron® is more bioavailable than boron citrate, the nutrient used in most commercial bone building supplements.

Adding Bone Restore with Vitamin K2to your whole-body health regimen is a great way to get all of these critical, bone-health nutrients in a single, convenient formula.

Common questions

What is the difference between vitamin K1 and K2?

K1 comes from plants and mainly supports clotting. K2 is made by bacteria and found in fermented foods and animal products, and it is more linked with bone and tissue health.

What is MK-7?

MK-7 is a form of vitamin K2 found in natto. It stays in the body longer than other forms, so once daily is enough.

Should I take vitamin K2 with vitamin D3?

They are commonly combined, as vitamin D helps absorb calcium and K2 helps guide calcium to bones.

When is the best time to take vitamin K?

Take it with your main meal, which contains fat, for better absorption.

How long does vitamin K2 take to work?

Bone benefits develop over months to years. Blood levels rise within days.

Which form of vitamin K is best?

K2 as MK-7 is popular for bone and calcium support, and K1 for general nutrition. Many people choose based on their goal.

Safety

Vitamin K can reduce the effect of warfarin and similar blood thinners. Do not take it unless your doctor approves and monitors you. Seek advice if you have a clotting disorder, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
