(Vigna unguiculata)

In fully labelled zip lock bag (see photos)

Popular cooking bean that is common
in dishes in the southern states of the USA.

Also popular with the kids with its eye-like display.

Like most beans, they are easy to grow
and take under three months to reach harvest.

HOW TO GROW
BLACK EYED BEANS

Step 1

Soak the seeds in water for 30 minutes.

Sow seeds in medium pots or directly

into a ground of soil with good drainage.

Space at least 30cm apart if planted directly

into the ground. Part or full sun is fine.

Step 2

Set up a trellis or support structure for

the plant to grow on as they mature.

Keep the seeds moist and they should

germinate in 7-10 days.

Step 3

Ensure there is a support structure in place by

the time the plants reach 15cm in height.

Without a support, the fruiting beans can break

the stems and reduce the overall yield.

Step 4

Once established, will survive mild cold and

will require watering every 2-3 days.

Additional water advised when fruiting.

Black Eyed Beans can take between

70-80 days to bear fruit.
